What do you even mean??? Where else could it be??? As an ex-recruiter turned software engineer, I have to say, so many engineers on blind are so ignorant and arrogant. And also only knows engineering but completely lack an understanding of how business works.

Not all the layoffs were recruiters according to the article. Seems like all functions of HR. Smaller HR could simply mean they are being more lean or leveraging AI more But also...less hiring.

HR teams usually also cover stuff like payroll and benefit management, so you need some of them for that critical function. You could probably cut 50% of any HR team at a major corporation and not notice any real difference to the business operations. Payroll, benefits, recruiting, and some coverage for employee problems. Anything else is fluff
